From the bungalows and mobile homes, there are easy walks to the vast sandy naturist beaches and numerous sports actitivites.
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, shops, restaurants, plus a surf school on Monta Beach, and horseriding at Euronat.
Many bungalows are "dog friendly". At CHM dogs are allowed on the beach, but in high season only before 11am and after 19.00 hrs. at EURONAT there is a designated dog beach 24/7.
The village market in Montalivet operates daily in the summer holidays. It has everything from clothes, food and wine and a magnificent indoor fish market. In high season the market is the largest in the area, and on Sunday everyone seems to congregate at the wine stalls with their oysters and prawns.
There is a flower & farmers' market every Wednesday in nearby St.Vivien, and in Soulac you will find a wonderful indoor fish market, even in winter.
Our favourites !
The Marin - one of Montalivet's long established restaurants, has a very good reputation
and is open all year.
Le 3 - Resto - a lively bar with a good restaurant.(opposite the tourist office)
Our favourite summer restaurants:
CHM Centre:
Gaia (adjacent Aquapark) superb cuisine, lovely atmosphere
le Poissoniere (where you can choose your fish from the counter, and it is cooked for you)
The Pizzeria: (a huge choice of interesting & excellent pizzas)
Piqueyrot, Lac Hourtin
Bar Nautique, beautiflul lakeside restaurant (fine dining)
Small nearby towns: Soulac and Le Sparre - both good for shopping.
The Ancient city of Bordeaux is just over an hour's drive away, or take the train for the beautiful ride through the Medoc vineyards.
Wonderful for sailing and windsurfing
